After ten years of living J.K Rowling’s fantastical characters into life, the seven-book series is finally coming to an end with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over the years, the first six books have been filmed without much dependence to every plot written on the book. However, with the Deathly Hallows, director David Yates decided to follow the flow of the last book in order to give a more epic ending in favor with the Harry Potter book fans.

The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, has been divided into two movies. The reason for this two part one movie is as stated above, to follow the real flow of the last book for the sake of the Harry Potter fans who have faithfully read the book.

On the first part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the film ended with Harry defeating Draco in a duel and escaped together with his friends, Hermione and Ron, while Dobby was killed by Bellatrix. It was also shown how Voldemort broke into Dumbledore’s tomb and stole the Elder’s Wand. If you’re going to follow the sequence according to the book, the first part ended at Chapter 23.

The second part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows start at Chapter 24. After Dobby’s funeral, Harry gathered some information about the sword. As shown in the trailer, Harry and the rest of the gang was with Griphook (the dwarf you’ve seen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone who’s in charge of Gringgot’s bank. They also asked for his help to break through the bank there was a speculation that another Horcrux is kept inside the vault of Bellatrix Lestrange.

Though the plan about Hermione disguising as Bellatrix Lestrange fell apart, they managed to get Hufflepuff’s cup which was also learned by Harry as one of Voldemort’s Hocruxes. They escaped, but the sword was lost from them because they were separated from Griphook.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 trailer revealed a scene where Voldemort walked through a room with dead wizards and witches. On the book, it was because Voldemort found out about Harry getting Hufflepuff’s cup. He poured his anger on everyone with him, killing them all in an instant.
The beginning of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows 2 trailer also showed a crown. This, as stated on the book, is Ravenclaw’s diadem which was also found out by the gang to be one of Voldemort’s Hocruxes.

As seen on the trailer, Voldemort’s army is walking towards Hogwarts, the campus being chaotic, and combat of spells was on the move. Since one of the Death Eater professors spotted Harry, the Death Eater professor immediately contacted Voldemort. With this, Professor McGonagall tries to help keep Voldemort off while Harry’s looking for the diadem. However, they ran across Snape (who was also shown on the trailer), and the two professors battled quickly. The other professors who are on Harry’s side helped put up charms and spells around the campus.

One of the bitterest deaths that J.K Rowling had written aside from Severus Snape, Hedwig, and Dobby is the death of one of the Weasley twins, Fred. A great battle emerged at Hogwarts and resulted to this heartbreaking death. On the trailer, you could have seen how Harry and Voldemort both fell on the ground. Harry was not totally dead. Though Voldemort remained alive, the one that died in him was a part of Voldemort’s soul inside him that was planted during the time he was planned to be killed.

Not only Harry was the one who attained victory in this battle but also one of the closest women in Harry’s heart, Mrs. Weasley. In the trailer, it was shown that Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix were having a duel. In this duel, Mrs. Weasley successfully kills Bellatrix. She was about to be killed by Voldemort but was shielded with Harry’s power. The last battle then comes into scene. Voldemort and Harry then exchanged spells. The last words uttered in the trailer were by Voldemort saying, “Only I can live forever”.

Despite the decade of waiting for this series to come to an end, Harry Potter fans still can’t wait for its premier screening on July 15, 2011. This movie will be the last they will see Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint together in the magical world. Although the deaths of the many characters in the whole Harry Potter series have set the fans’ eyes to tears and hearts into pieces, they are still looking forward to watching the last film, wanting to see the rainbow after the storm.
